Middle School is a very special place to be. The times when you were stuck to one classroom and one teacher are over. Now you are more independent and are able to do a lot on your own. You are experiencing a new YOU. And with that comes a lot of challenges and responsibilities.

YES your teachers are demanding a lot from you, your parents  are on your case 24/7, Your friends need you, and here you are trying to make sense of it all.

You have to develop many different types of skills to be a successful student. You need skills that help you study, organize, manage your time, take tests, take notes, and cope with stress.
STUDY SKILLS:                                                                                                                      *  Try to find a quiet place at home to study where you can concentrate and do better on your homework.
*   Don't do homework in front of theTV
*   Think about homework as practice not work
*   Get into the habit of studying every day
*   If you are not sure about something ask questions, asking is one of the    effective ways to learn.

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS:
*   Use things like outlines and charts to help you organize and and learn new material.
*    Use a planner or agenda to keep track of homework assignments, tests and projects.
*    Keep a to do list. Write down things you need to do, then do things in order of priority

TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS:
*   For every subject break your workload down into manageable chunks and take your homework one step at a time
*   Don,t put things off, give yourself plenty of time to get things done by planning ahead and sticking to a schedule.

TEST TAKING SKILLS: 
*   Rest well before taking a test
*   Don't cram for tests! Don't try to learn everything the night before a test
*   DON'T PANICK. Just take one question at a time.

STRESS MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

Don't sweat the small stuff. Try to prioritize your activities, and focus on the important ones.
*    Work off stress through some kind of physical activities
*     Eating too much or too little , or sleeping too much or too little can aggravate stress.
*     Take care of yourself. Make sure you eat right, get enough rest and exercise.

BULLYING: Is when a person is picked on over  and over again by an individual or group. BULLYING is a big problem. Students who believe they have been victim of bullying or intimidation by another student, and all students who see or know of such behavior, should report the incident to school personnel immediately. HOW DOES BULLYING HURT? People that are bullied feel unsafe. They can also feel unsafe and lonely. They may not even know or understand why they are being bullied.

BULLYING IS REAL BULLYING IS WRONG! You might think bullying happens only to little kids. The truth is that being a bully or being bullied has no age limit.
Bullying is MEAN, CRUEL and DISRESPECTFUL. It's no way to treat anyone.

HOW DO PEOPLE BULLY OTHERS?

* Calling names               * Picking on people           * Making threats
* Leaving nasty notes     * Harassing                        *  giving dirty looks
* Intimidating                   *Put downs                         *  Nasty emails, texting
* Using  social networking sites like my space to ridicule , spread false rumors, or embarrass someone.
